The UNITED PARTY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT welcomes though with. pinch of salt the announcement by Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development, Emmanuel Mulenga that Government intends to create 10, 000 jobs for youths by December 2020.
We however view this pronouncement as a well-calculated move to give false hope and silence the youths from speaking out against the corruption, abuse of natural resources, joblessness and lack of leadership under the PF.
We find it strange and unrealistic that the PF could pledge to create 10, 000 unspecified jobs within a period of 6 months, when they have failed to create the first batch of 500,000 jobs they promised, including another 1,000,000 jobs President Edgar Lungu promised, to create before the end of his second term.
Bembas say_’TAKALABWA MWEBWA_ _KALABA UWAKASOSELE_’ meaning that the one who says it can easily forget but not the one who is being told and this is what we are telling PF that youths have not forgotten everything they were promised by this government.
The UPND views this as just another well hatched scheme aimed at blackmailing the youths and hoodwink them to give them a vote come 2021.
But the UPND under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema has set it’s focus on the abundant natural resources in the country to create genuine investment opportunities leading to quality job creation and poverty reduction.
Unlike the PF, the UPND will not get excited with the country’s natural resources which they are exploiting for personal gain but will instead harness them for macroeconomic growth for the benefit of the current and future generations.
