Zambians need to rise up and fight for economic independence following the devastation of the economy said UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda.
Mr Imenda said this during his familiarisation tour of constituencies in Lusaka yesterday.
He said it is time to fight through the ballot to get back what has been stolen from the people by the PF government.
“We must organize people in our communities to win this election and usher President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND into office to enable the country gain economic independence” he said.
Mr Imenda said it is only the people of Zambia themselves who can liberate the country from the economic woes through the ballot.
He called on the UPND supporters to have one other’s interests as the country heads towards elections, adding that this is the time to support all aspirants regardless of whether they are one’s preferred or not.
Mr Imenda took the opportunity to assure members that their candidates of choice would be chosen by the people and not imposed by top leadership.
He stated that the local membership have the mandate to select their candidates of choice because they knew who is popular in their area.
