UPND President Hakainde Hichilema writes below…
This morning with our running mate, madam Mutale Nalumango, we joined fellow leaders in attending the Peace Conference held at Mulungushi Conference Centre in Lusaka which was organised by the Three Church Mother Bodies, Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) The Commonwealth, Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) among others.
As always, we remain committed to ensuring a peaceful Zambia but our message to the Electoral Body is that this election will be decided by the voters who are Zambians and not those who count votes.
We reiterate that the men and women in uniform must ensure that instigators of violence, hate and other evils must be arrested as opposed to arresting the victims. We know that our men and women in uniform are working under very difficult conditions but to you citizens out there, we say, if attacked by the thugs, please defend yourselves and be each other’s keeper.
We say no to violence and we also say no to anyone standing in the way of a decided population as is the case now.
