Vote Buying Characterizes Milenge Council Chairperson By-Election

Vote buying has characterized the MILENGI Council Chairperson by election as PF has lawmakers have been spotted dishing out money and other assorted goods to woo prospective voters.

Those who are have been involved in the fracas are PF Milengi MP, Mwansa Mbulakulima and his Mwansabombwe counterpart, Rodgers Mwewa, who are according to eyewitnesses are openly involved in the bribery of voters in Milenge West.

Mr Mbulakulima, who seem to be assisted by Father Mumbi of Chembe Catholic Parish in abrogating the Electoral Code of Conduct, is allegedly going round the district in a Toyota Prado, Reg number ABK 3933.

Meanwhile, information emerging from Milenge East, indicates that residents of Kapalala area, which is the new UPND strong hold have blocked PF from distributing mealie meal to voters in the area.

A check at Kapalala Primary School polling station showed that 153 voters had cast their votes of 600 registered voters in stream one while stream two recorded 62 out of 174 registred voters.

By 14:00hrs, only 56 people had cast their votes out of a total number of 199 registered voters at Katena Primary School polling station, a situation described as poor by the Presiding Officer.

Later in the day as voting intensified, Mansa Central MP, Chitalu Chilufya was seen marshaling a horde of weaponized PF cadres to go and disturb the UPND command centre at Kapalala, Milengi East.

But this didn’t go down well with the locals who instead stood and fought back to challenge the disgruntled Minster of Health, who then retreated after he was defeated.

UPND’s Brave Nsama, who’s the front runner for the seat and undeniably the Favourite of the locals, is tipped to win the seat which fell vacant following the demise of Fidelis Chanda.
