UPND SA Holds a Card Renewal Event and Elects Women Leadership Committee

UPND SA over the weekend held a three in one event to kick start the party card renewal program in South Africa and also elected a Women’s Committee to ensure women as a key constituency of the party is represented at the highest level within the party in South Africa.

A significant number of Zambians in the Northern suburbs of  Johannesburg attended the event including  several executive members of the UPND party in South Africa.

Despite the heavy rains that have been falling non-stop in SA for the past week, some members from UPND Johannesburg central and their leadership also attended the event to give support to  the Johannesburg North  branch leadership. The function was also graced by the National  Chapter Secretary, Dr.Muchindu and National Chair for mobilisation, Mrs Che Che Mazoka.

In welcoming the newly elected women leadership team,
Dr.Muchindu said women   now play key roles in society and lead from the front in boardrooms and in organisations and encouraged the elected women not to be  intimidated but claim their rightful place in the party and in Zambia. Mrs Mazoka who is the daughter to the founding President of UPND, Mr Anderson Mazoka called on all those in attendance and living in South Africa to ensure every one has a UPND
card and ensure they register for the upcoming 2021 General elections to kick PF out of govt  once and for all.

The newly elected National women’s chair lady in South Africa is Ms Sandra Mukonda and five other ladies  were also elected in the National women’s committee.

A lot of upcoming Zambian musicians show cased their talents in what was  a colourful event with comrades  enjoying a braai and dancing to Zambian music and just happy to mingle as a UPND family.

Speaking earlier, National UPND chair Mr.Oliver Amutike encouraged all to unite the party in SA and  work extra harder to raise resources for the party at home to ensure HH and the UPND leadership is ushered in government.  He emphasised that SA Chapter is committed to ensuring that a strong contingent of  Zambian men and women of not less than 150 will go home from South Africa for voter protection.

Some of the leaders who attended include Mr.Evans Kalaba for IT services, Mr.Sammy Peyala, Johannesburg Central Chair and of course Cde Jambo who is Chair of Johannesburg North branch.

Chair lady –  Sandra Mukonda.
Vice Chair lady – Lizzy Hlongwa.
Secretary- Adrial Mwale
Treasurer -Justin Nkowane.
Vice Treasury – Ruth Masanyinga.
