United Party for National Development and National Democratic Congress women in Lusaka have pledged to work together to promote women rights and reduce gender equalities.
Women from both political parties yesterday celebrated the International Women’s Day at the UPND Secretariat which was officiated by UPND Vice President Mutale Nalumango.
The women pledged to work together and continue driving the ‘gender’ agenda because they were the most affected when it comes to sustaining their families, educating their children and lack of medicines in hospitals especially the maternity wards.
However the women expressed happiness that the alliance already has a President endorsed and called on him to look at the plight of women in the country.
The alliance recently endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema as the 2021 Presidential candidate.
Vice President Mutale Nalumango promised to support women in both NDC and UPND to ensure that they take up their space and continue working towards promoting women’s rights.
UPND Lusaka Provincial Chairperson Rose Zulu said time has for women to unite and deal with issues affecting them.
Ms Zulu thanked President Hichilema for increasing the number of women in the National governing body and promised that they will actively participate to reduce gender inequalities.
The women danced together and sang songs praising the lord for their creation and promised to stand for their rights.
Madam Nalumango kept reminding them of the strength God has given them and that time has come to fill up the space and work towards liberating themselves against gender inequalities.
