The United Party for National Development (UPND) across the country is mourning the killing of one of its gallant youth, Lawrence Banda who was shot at by a known PF thug in Kaoma, Western Province, yesterday.
And UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema has pledged both material and financial support to the bereaved family.
Mr Lawrence Banda was shot at by a known PF cadre when he tried to rescue some UPND women whose camp had been invaded by PF thugs in Site and Service area in Kaoma Central Constituency.
And consoling mourners and family members after visiting the funeral house in Lusaka this afternoon, UPND Secretary General, Stephen Katuka said the untimely demise of Mr Banda had “broken” the heart of party President Hakainde Hichilema. Mr Katuka said that Mr Hichilema had sent him to convey his deepest condolences to the bereaved family. He wished them well and strength from God during this trying hour.
The late Mr Banda is survived by a wife and four children. The funeral is being held at the deceased’s mother in Lusaka’s John Laing Compound.
UPND Deputy National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso, National Youth Secretary, Stephen Chikota, National Youth Information and Publicity Secretary, Samuel Ngwira, Lusaka Province Youth Chairperson, Brian Mizinga, Deputy Provincial You Chairperson, Anderson Banda, Kanyama constituency Chairperson, Justine Kabwe, Kanyama Ward 11 Chairperson, Mr Patrick Hatontola and Lusaka Province Trustee, Grace Tembo are some of the senior party officials who visited the funeral home in Lusaka’s John Laing compound.
