HH sheds Tears over the Death of Mr Banda.
We have received the death of our member who was shot at by known PF cadres in Kaoma with deep shock, sadness and anger.
It is not news that the PF is a very violent Party. We have stated this before, their first act, was to kill their own cadre in by-election in Feira. Second was their own cadre when the then President Sata was laying a foundation for the new airport. Livingstone, another person died. We have not forgotten how cadres in Police uniforms killed Mapenzi Chibulo a few days before the 2016 general elections. Earlier that year, Patricia was stripped naked in full view of the Police by PF cadres. We have also not forgotten how Grazier Matapa was brutally murdered in Mtendere and how Vespers Shimuzhila was teargassed to death.
More recently, we were shot at in Sesheke. A few months ago, a NDC member was shot dead in Luanshya. All this blood is in the hands of PF. Of late we have seen media pictures of PF cadres brandishing weapons but no arrests have been made to date. There is something consistent in all this other than the perpetration of violence, Edgar Lungu, who claims to be President is quiet. It then tells us to say this extrajudicial killings have the blessings of State Counsel Edgar Lungu.
To our members, I say, we should not be cowed into submission for doing so will be to give away our independence and birthright to choose our association. Our freedoms are guaranteed in the constitution of Zambia, and we shall exercise them to the maximum. This country belongs to us all, and we shall use ANY means necessary to defend those freedoms. Matyrs like Lawrence Banda must be honored, he has been killed in defence of that freedom.
We will not relent and if the PF has the faintest idea that we are going to be cowed by way of live ammunition unleased on defenceless people, they better think again. For the people of Kaoma, I say show the PF who is boss, they cannot be killing people and expecting them to vote for violence.
My sincere condolences to Lawrence Banda’s family. The party and I personally commiserate with you on this tragic day. May the soul of Lawrence Banda rest in peace. His death will not go in vain.
