…as Ms Musonda recounts nightmare of attack by weaponized PF thugs
United Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary General, Stephen Katuka has condemned the brutal attack on its 2018 Chilanga candidate Charmaine Mehl Musonda and three other UPND members.
Ms Musonda and 3 others were yesterday brutally attacked by a horde of unruly ruling PF thugs from Intercity Bus Terminus as they were readying themselves to go and attend the UPND Mobilization Rally in Kabwata.
And recounting the ordeal this afternoon when Mr Katuka visited her at her Chilanga residence, Ms Musonda stated that the incident happened when she was getting ready to go and attend the UPND Mobilization Rally in Kabwata.
“My dog is the one which saved me. One of them was even beaten by my dog. Our youth Chairperson was badly beaten. What happened is that we had come back from preparing some banners for the rally in Chilenje. That’s how they chased me and my colleagues. As I tried to escape, they threw a metal bar on me and that’s how I stumbled and fell. When I fell down one of them who had a saw pounced on me and as he was about to start cutting me, he saw the money in my wallet and that’s how they went for the money. And I thought that after grabbing my money, they would leave, but surprisingly enough that didn’t happen. They continued butchering me using a wooden saw,” she narrated.
And Katuka says he was shaken when he saw the pictures of the brutal attack after the rally.
“We are all saddened and touched by what transpired yesterday. You have to be strong especially that the incidence is a traumatizing one. We are dealing with a ruthless brutal regime that doesn’t care about its citizens,” he said.
Mr Katuka, who earlier visited another party member , Mr Sikamikami, who was also a victim of yesterday’s brutal attacks, was accompanied by UPND Deputy Treasurer General, Felix Ngoma, Deputy National Youth Chairperson, Gilbert Liswaniso, Lusaka Province Deputy Youth Chairperson for Politics Godfrey Chitanga and Chilanga District Deputy Youth Chairperson, Langson Ngungu.
