I am profoundly devastated and utterly shocked to announce the untimely death of our Copperbelt Youth Chairman Ronald Bwalya Manenga in a road traffic accident, just under two hours ago, in the Kitwe Ndola Highway near the Dag Hammarskjöld memorial turn off. His Vice Chairman Gerald Ngoma is critically injured and is currently admitted in Hospital, while three others; Spax Mulenga, Kangwa Kamando and Martha Mututa have all sustained injuries in the same accident and also equally admitted.
Manenga was a freedom fighter and Copperbelt Province’s creme de la creme. His death is indescribably painful to me and the rest of the UPND family on the Copperbelt. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the families of the others that have been injured, who wish a quick recovery.
To Manenga my friend and comrade; go well my brother, we shall meet on the other side in the fullness of time. You gallantly fought a brave fight for a better Zambia and was a true soldier and patriot to our party and to our nation. The fight you started will not be in vain. We will pick up the broken pieces together and fight until we achieve what you believed in and Zambia shall be delivered from the shackles of poverty and dictatorship. May your soul rest in peace. Amen.
