Fellow citizens, we are once again witnessing incidents, where those without policy ideas resort to the same tried and tired tendencies of dividing our citizens.
Our marketeers, bus drivers and conductors, truck drivers, small business owners, farmers, students, employees and citizens in general, want to hear from us workable solutions affecting their lives and those of their families.
Therefore those of us in leadership should provide hope for our struggling citizens on how to end electricity loadsheding, how best we can provide fertiliser and other inputs to our farmers and ensure food security, how to lower the cost of mealie meal, providing bursaries to our students, create jobs for our citizens, especially the youth and women, availing affordable loan schemes, better health care provision and education for all and basically addressing economic challenges.
These and many others are fundamental and universal requirements for all citizens regardless of how they twist their tongues, political and religious affiliations.
Our citizens have over the years travelled, settled, mixed and evolved into something where if it were food, one would not describe what they were eating.
We can challenge anybody in this country that can say they are a completely pure breed without any sort of association with other breeds either by birth, church mates, school mates, marriage, friends and other engagements.
We can imagine the shame and horror that family members, children, particularly in this current generation, look at some in leadership that have no other message other than churning out highly divisive messages that do not address the current economic difficulties the country is facing.
Sadly, some of the most abominable utterances, in what seems to be a systematic alienation of some of our citizens for political mileage, have come from high offices, that ordinarily should be in the forefront to punish culprits.
And since these are being uttered from high offices, others in lower ranks find it easy to preach the same messages with the same or worse tone, knowing they won’t be sanctioned or punished by law.
Fellow citizens, every inch of this beautiful land is uniquely gifted and every citizen has some value of some sort, other than those engaging in criminal activities at different levels.
We keep reiterating that we are strong as one people tapping into the various talents of each other, than demeaning one another.
We have said it several times that we don’t have the monopoly of knowledge and we are ready to keep learning and tapping wisdom from anyone regardless of where they come from for the benefit of our country.
To those who profoundly disagree with us, we have no problem, we will keep hearing their points of departure in very respectful manner.
Ours is a culture of continuously engaging our citizens through various platforms and we would have done more had the atmosphere not been very restrictive.
Let’s preach, promote, inculcate the spirit of national unity among our citizens starting at family levels. Church leaders should particularly play a leading role in addressing the emerging divisive tendencies in the country. Let us celebrate our diversity than poison it with various divisions.
