_….as he visits Lukanga fishing camps_
“Go and mobilise all your families members and those you have left behind in the Patriotic Front so that we can together correct the mistake the country made by voting for Edgar Lungu,” United Party for National Development Secretary General Steven Katuka has told PF members defecting to the UPND.
Speaking today when he received 450 defectors at several fishing camps at Lukanga swamps in Central Province, Mr Katuka said now that everyone agrees that the PF is a failed project, citizens must all unite under the UPND umbrella and remove President Lungu and his band of criminals.
Mr Katuka warned that another five years of the Patriotic Front in office would mean Zambia being a complete failed state.
Golden Kachelena Kambani, leader of the PF members that defected to UPND at Kapukupuku fishing camp, said fishermen and their families have not seen any improvements in their lives since the PF came in office.
“We had hoped that in his second term in office, President Lungu and the PF would help improve the road infrastructure, schools and health centres here but we don’t have these things up to now. There is no indication things will improve so now we have decided we try Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND who has already made it in his private life,” Mr Kambani said.
Mr Kambani said as PF members, they have seen Edgar Lungu’s life style improving while they cant afford to take their children to school.
“We are many of us here that voted for PF because they were telling us about tribe but now we realise that we are all suffering regardless of our tribes.
UPND chairman for Energy Charles Kaisala, who accompanied Mr Katuka, told the defectors that the PF have nothing to show and tell the people that’s why they always want to divide Zambians using tribe.
“All regions and tribes of this country are represented in the UPND unlike in the PF. The PF leaders tell us “One Zambia, One Nation” but they are the same people telling others that certain regions of this country are no go areas for some Zambians,” Mr Kaisala observed.
