The Novel virtual party elective general assembly for the United Party for National Development went on smoothly thanks to modern technology.
In a country where bandwidth is still a challenge, our team knew from the word go that this was not going to be an easy task but also knew that it was not an impossible task. We looked at various scenarios that would enable us to provide the best possible technology to deliver acceptable results in the new dispensation called “new normal” without causing any serious and notable disruption in terms of what would have been deliverables had the party met physically to conduct its business at one venue.
We spent a number of sleepless nights to make it happen. We learned a lot of vital lessons in the process that will help us improve in similar assignments in the future. We recognize that in as much as we would want life to return to normal, COVID-19 might be here longer than we can expect therefore, we all need to emulate those who are willing to adopt new technology in the new normal.
Finally, I just want to say congratulations to the team that made this entire process a success in terms of technology. Being a part of such a team of talented young people was inspiring and humbling. In my world, the word “impossible” doesn’t exist in my vocabulary.
