…three UPND Councillors in Kasempa turn-down State House offer.
KASEMPA – 24/05/2020
KASEMPA TOWN Council Chairperson, Stanley Kaindu says there are only two (2) full Council meetings before the August 12, 2021 presidential and general election wondering what newly elected councillors shall achieve in that limited time if elected today.
This was said in the wake of the Patriotic Front (PF) using different agents to pursue UPND Councillors in Kasempa with special State House offers so that they resign from their positions.
Latest on the list of agents in Kasempa District working for the PF include District Agriculture Coordinator and a Mr Nyirenda from State House.
But UPND Local Government and Housing Deputy Chairperson, Brian Ndumba says any councillor with a sound mind would not allow the PF to destroy their noble career.
“We wish to warn officials abusing their offices in the name of PF that their days are numbered. If Mr Lungu is popular, he must go on the ground and campaign instead of fishing from the UPND pool of Councillors thereby chocking our growing democracy”, Mr Ndumba said.
“We want to thank Kamukechi ward Councillor, Morgan Mabamba, Mpugu ward Councillor, Dickson Mpingilwa and Kelongwa ward Councillor, Stephen Ngwezye for rejecting the State House offer and remain in the UPND which is party of choice,” he added.
The PF agents pursuing UPND Councillors have been using a big billboard reading, ‘KASEMPA TOWN COUNCIL – Welcome to Kasempa District’ which carries Edgar Lungu and Stanley Kaindu in lying that Lungu was already working with their Council Chairperson.
But even if the billboard reads:- Kasempa District is a real destination for viable investment opportunities in areas of mining, tourism, forestry, agriculture, manufacturing, processing and infrastructure development, Mr Lungu has failed to actualize the theme placed thereon, “Unveiling the hidden Treasure.”
And UPND North Western province Chairperson, Colonel Grandson Katambi says the structures must allow people participate in elections freely as per given guidelines.
