United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has laughed at the ruling Patriotic Front (PF’s) for branding youths demanding for good governance and human rights as “disgruntled”.
In apparent reference to Minister for Lusaka Province, Bowman Lusambo and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dora Siliya that a horde of youths who held a protest in the bush on 22nd June following the police’s refusal to grant them a permit to protest were “disgruntled”, Mr Hichilema reminded the PF that it was the disgruntled youths who wrestled power from the One Party State of UNIP and the subsequent persuit of a third term of late Fredrick Chiluba of the MMD in 2001.
During a Media Briefing at the party secretariat yesterday, Mr Hichilema, who identified himself with the sufferings of the majority Zambian youths, stated that he wanted the youths to be part of the liberation struggle against the PF tyranny come 12th August, 2021.
Mr Hichilema stated that unity of purpose was needed to defeat the PF and rescue the country from the jaws of a regime that was bent on cementing a dictatorship through the infamous Amendment Bill Number 10 of 2019.
He has since called on the youths to emulate the freedom fighters who fought for the liberation struggle, adding that it took courage and sacrifice for the country’s founding fathers to defeat the colonial masters.
