UPND Lusaka Province Chairperson, Obvious Mwaliteta says Government should consider reducing the pump price for fuel like other countries have done so that drivers reduce the number of passengers on public transport to make social distancing practical on public transport.
Mr Mwaliteta said wearing face Masks alone and disinfecting taxis and buses without maintaining the ideal social distancing exposes the travelling public to COVID -19 because of ‘overloading,’ as buses a loaded to full capacity.
He called on government to reduce fuel so that taxi and mini bus drivers reduce the number of passengers they carry to make social distancing practical.
The former Home Affairs Deputy Minister has advised residents living in Kafue to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travels in order to reduce the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.
“Avoid travelling with children, especially mothers because little ones cannot manage face masks on their own. Its actually exposes them to a high risk of infection,” said Mr Mwaliteta.
And Mr Mwaliteta observed that Kafue District was not yet free of COVID -19 for anybody to down play the number of possible infections so far. It is very important for people to adhere to Health guidelines in combating the Coronavirus in the District.
