Youths resolve in Luapula to ensure HH becomes a Republican President
On Monday 14th June 2021, Zambia moved closet to the Thursday 12th August 2021 Presidential. Parliamentary and Local Government Election, with only 59 days; 8 weeks and 3days, one month and 29 days, prompting United Party for National Development (UPND) National Women’s Chairlady Doreen Mwamba encouraged Chembe Constituency electorates in Luapula Province to vote for UPND Alliance State House aspirant, Hakainde Hichilema.
Stressing Mr. Hichilema’s suitability to empower citizens through prudent economic management, Ms. Mwamba argued that the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu had increased inequality, unemployment and prices of goods and public services were beyond the reach of all Zambians.
A tart, straight to the point Ms. Mwamba says the 2021 Electoral Competition is a contest pitting the Patriotic Front against the 18 million Zambian people.
“The UPND Alliance partners are resolved to build a better Zambia.
Zambians are all broken and have suffered enough under the uncaring PF brutal regime, especially us women who everyday, grapple with child bearing and feeding of households life,” cried Ms. Mwamba, within earshot of UPND Chairperson for Energy Charles Kaselwa and the Youth Wing.
Ms. Mwamba, the vibrantly assertive UPND Women’s Chairlady urged women to communicate the message of change without any fear of intimidation of the PF as a constitutional right to Campaign for Change.
And both UPND Deputy National Youth Chairman for Administration Stephen Chikota and the UPND Deputy National Youth for Gender Cindy Kauka reiterated that young people will not rest until Mr. Hichilema, an entrepreneur-turned politician is ushered into office as Zambia’s 7th Republican President.
Both Mr. Chikota and Ms. Cindy Kauka believe Mr. Hichilema and UPND Alliance partners manifesto will economically empower citizens.
And UPND National Youth Committee Member Francis Kope encouraged the electorates to protect votes emphasising that the forthcoming elections are a landmark for absolute change of life to better of ever Zambian.
The UPND Women’s Chairlady Doreen Mwamba is on campaign trail with the youth wing in Luapula Province.
And the hopeful residents are in a jubilant mood for socio-economic change.

*…as he ditches the ruling party to join the UPND*
ZAMBIA’S economy will be worse than that of Zimbabwe if the people allow the Patriotic Front to rule beyond 12 August 2021, former PF Lusaka province Youth coordinator, Loveday Manyepa popularly known as Commander Manyepa has warned.
Mr Manyepa was speaking at the UPND Secretariat when he defected to largest opposition political party in the country.
And welcoming Mr Manyepa, UPND National Chairperson, Stephen Katuka expressed gratitude that a young, but experienced politician has decided to join the party of choice.
Katuka stressed that it was gratifying that the younger generation had realised that the hope for better could only be realized through the leadership of Hakainde Hichilema and his team.
Mr Manyepa also stated that the PF has no capacity to reduce the cost of essential commodities such as mealie-meal, sugar, cooking oil, adding that the PF had lost ideas on how to create job opportunities.
He urged young people in Zambia to think about their future and vote for President Hichilema, describing the UPND leader as a great and visionary leader capable enough of delivering beyond people’s expectations.
Mr Manyepa indicated that there was no future in the ruling party because of open-ended greediness from the top leadership.

We just hope and trust that the Zambia Police will quickly move in and arrest Max Chongo and all those PF Cadres who were involved in this criminal incident. UPND is a very peaceful party and we love our country so much.
We are also calling on all well meaning Zambians including the PF to condemn the political violence that the Patriotic Front PF have continued to perpetrate in this country.
UPND President Hakainde Hichilema writes below…

*…accuses the PF of using COVID-19 to bar opposition from campaigning*
UPND Alliance leader, President Hakainde Hichilema has charged that nothing will stand in the way of UPND Alliance to prevent it from ushering in the much-needed change come 12th August.
Speaking shortly after a meeting with ECZ, Mr Hichilema stated that change was written on the faces of Zambians including that of flowers.
And Mr Hichilema says the UPND Alliance will no longer be taking unlawful orders from the Police, charging
“Come rain, come sunshine, there will be change of Government on 12th August. Change is written everywhere: on your lips; in the sky and on flowers. Chapwa! kabiye! Longa! The group here (Alliance partners) are civilised to allow for peaceful transition of power. I want to assure you and guide you: from now onwards, we will not obey unlawful instructions. From what happened in Kanyama yesterday, a large procession-does it mean COVID-19 only knows the faces of opposition?” wondered Mr Hichilema.
Asked to comment on cancellation of two UPND Alliance Road Shows scheduled for Munali in Lusaka and another one in Kitwe, Copperbelt, Mr Hichilema stated that the party couldn’t proceed as Police refused to give a go-ahead.
“The cancellation of the Road Show is one of the issues that came through in the meeting with ECZ…that there must be equity, fairness and avoidance of using the COVID-19 as a weapon to deter the UPND Alliance from exercising the fundamental rights of citizens such as the freedom of Assembly. We also raised issues of the ECZ’s failure to play its role as referee in the Electoral process of the country,” said Mr Hichilema.
Mr Hichilema stated that PF’s intention was to stop the UPND Alliance from selling their message to the electorate.
“The intention of the PF is to stop us from campaigning and from reaching out to the people. The intention (by PF) is to stop us from campaigning. The Police are used to advance the cause of endesha; chapwa; longa (Edgar Lungu). I want to assure you that courtesy of the people of Zambia, come rain, come sunshine, there will be change of Government on 12th August,” Hichilema said reassuringly.
Commenting on the UPND Alliance’s meeting at the same event, Alliance Chairman, Charles Milupi accused the ECZ of failing to execute their mandate of running the country’s electoral systems, adding that the Electoral body had instead surrendered the role to Zambia Police.
“We had a very serious meeting with ECZ at which we raise a number of issues concerning the elections. We also highlighted what we have seen in the ECZ who have failed to manage the elections. We have seen an ECZ who are willing to delegate their duties to the Police. We asked them why they are quiet when the Police are discharging their duties. We also raised issues of juveniles, minors registering as voters. We expect the ECZ to play their full role as referees. We also raised issues to do with the period for the announcement of results,” he said.
And UPND Alliance Vice Chairperson, Ernest Mwansa of ZED, accused the Police of taking the UPND Alliance’s willingness for dialogue as a weakness.
“Some of the things that we raised to the ECZ that we feel that must work on and take responsibility is the Voter Register which up to this time we do not have. Our concern is that we should have been able to verify the Voter Register. The other issue we raised to do with the Public Media, particularly ZNBC which has continued to be a tool for the ruling PF. We are concerned because the law has made it clear because the law provides for public run MEDIA to offer coverage to all political parties. The issue of Coronavirus: we are concerned that it sis being applied as a weapon to stop the opposition from campaigning,” he said.
He charged that the Police were creating an environment in which violence had become an alternative.
“Even the roadshows which they have allowed, we have police armoured vehicles trailing us. We want to make it clear that we are available to the Police Command. We are available for dialogue that will ensure that the elections are run properly,” he said.
He expressed concern at Inonge Wina’s continued use of public resources such as helicopters to carry out campaigns on behalf of the ruling party.
Mr Mwansa also appealed to the ECZ to take responsibility by conducting elections in line with the provisions of the law.
“The ECZ must not depend on Government to carry out their duties. The Electoral processes is in their hands. We will not expect Internet to go. To ensure that they protect the vote themselves is not a responsibility that they can run away from,” he said.

As UPND, we have been very clear about our hopes and wishes for this country.
Our focus will be on turning around the economic fortunes of our beautiful country and not to interfere with the Rule of Law or any institution tasked to deal with ills in our society.
Our cry has been to ensure that retirees are respected and settled well, the orphans and the youths are supported to get the education they need, the police and other uniformed officers are allowed to work professionally and remunerated well.
We will work hard to ensure that students at colleges and universities are given bursaries and meal allowances to ease their education journey like we enjoyed in our times under Dr Kenneth Kaunda.
We have planned to support our marketeers, not with handouts that insult their integrity, but real business schemes that will enable them to grow in business. We will create an enabling environment for business for all, regardless of your political inclinations. Professionals will not be intimidated and fired for speaking out and airing their grievances but instead, we will create an environment in which amicable resolution to issues is paramount.
This is what we plan to do for this country and not waste time chasing up scared men and women.
We will be too busy working to concentrate on petty issues. We have stated clearly that for those that have been doing wrong things, they will be handled by the police, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and other relevant authorities who, again, will be supported by central Government to work effectively, efficiently and professionally.
Those peddling fears and paranoia about us arresting them when we form government, our response is, we have no business in pettiness. These fears coming from these people just confirms what we have been saying. They have been a criminal league looting the resources of the country. If they have been dealing in legitimate business, why should they fear? We are comforted by the intelligence of the Zambians, that no amount of lies, hate speech or tribal rantings will change their minds. It is time for change.
To those cadres that feel they can no longer stand on the side of evil schemers and failures, for those who want to genuinely fight for a better Zambia, you are welcome to join our cause, we have enough room.

We have noted with concern the continuous culture of deception by the PF government around the management of social cash transfer remittances to vulnerable groups in our country.
We wish to refute the desperate claims by the PF regime that the UPND intends to suspend the delivery of social cash transfer to those who need this crucial social lifeline.
On the contrary, the UPND is disappointed that the PF regime have continued to swindle social cash transfer recipients by delivering K150 per recipient per month, when recipients will be entitled to at least K500 per month under the UPND administration.
We wish to warn social cash transfer recipients, that the PF have no ability or capacity to continue paying the K150 per month beyond August, as this is a mere stunt meant to hoodwink those on social cash transfer into voting for the poor PF leadership.
We further wish to remind social cash transfer recipients, that the reason the PF government cannot pay them a minimum K500 per month is because donor support towards social cash transfer was withdrawn after the theft of over $4m of donor money by PF government officials – a matter which went to court and ended in the conviction of a former government Minister.
We wish to assure social cash transfer recipients, that the UPND administration will commit itself to uplifting the welfare of the most vulnerable by expanding the social cash transfer safety net for those who need it the most.

*…as Alliance partners warn of full-scale and widespread chaos; demonstrations should HH be harmed*
Lusaka-The UPND Alliance has called on Zambians to prepare for widespread demonstrations should this morning’s assassination attempt on Alliance Presidential candidate, President Hakainde Hichilema by Zambia Police in Chingola culminate into any physical harm on Mr Hichilema.
The UPND alliance feels that such unprofessional acts by police are desperate attempts to discredit Mr Hichilema’s chances of winning the August 12 polls.
Heavily armed Paramilitary Police this morning besieged and fired both live and rubber bullets at President Hichilema’s vehicle in an attempt to assassinate him.
Mr Hichilema is on the Copperbelt conducting roadshows in the area ahead of the 12th August general elections.
The alliance says while President Lungu is campaigning country wide, he wants to silence his opponents using the police.
And UPND Alliance members consisting of MDC leader, Felix Mutati, ADD’s leader, Charles Milupi, and Alliance running mate, Mutale Nalumango told the Press in Lusaka at the MDC Secretariat that the they won’t sit idle and watch as PF leader, Edgar Chagwa Lungu continue to toy around the Mr Hichilema’s life.
UPND Alliance running mate and UPND Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, who described the attempts by Police to unlawfully terminate the life of Mr Hichilema in Chiwempala, Chingola on the Copper Belt on his way to church, described today’s events as a dark day for Zambia.
“Today is a very bad day for our nation…for Zambia. We are aware that the PF is very desperate and they are doing every thing possible to either stop the election or rig. We refuse to allow President Edgar Lungu to do a coupe d’état on our Constitution,” she said.
Ms Nalumango also accused Mr Lungu of riding on the novel coronavirus to bar his political opponents from freely campaigning.
“Edgar Chagwa Lungu wants to make Covid-19 a weapon. There is no way a President can announce the ban of a rally at his own rally. We will stand on the side of the Constitution. We ask all Zambians to stand together and not allow anyone to destroy or mutilate the Constitution,” said Nalumango.
“We challenge you, Kanganja to come and arrest us. We can’t seat and watch while Lungu continues to rape the Constitution,” she said.
And MDC leader, Felix Mutati, also echoed Ms Nalumango’s sentiments.
UPND Alliance Chairperson, Charles Milupi recounted that heavily armed, overzealous Police officers working on strict instructions from Mr Lungu discharged live ammunition and teargas canisters on his way to church this morning.
“We have a report that Police today discharged teargas canisters, live and rubber bullets where President Hichilema was seated as he was on his way to Chiwempala where he was scheduled to visit two churches. We know that since Mr Stephen Kampyongo is no longer executing his duties as Home Affairs Minister, every instruction to the Police is from none other than President Lungu and Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja.
Mr Milupi charged that should Mr Lungu continue to threaten the life of Mr Hichilema, the UPND Alliance would be left with no option but to call for widespread demonstrations across the country.
“What happened in Chiwempala in Chingola (CB) is clearly an assassination attempt. For some time now, the PF has played HH like a toy. Maybe it is because we, Zambians have conducted ourselves in a peaceful manner. Let me send this warning that any harm that would be done on Mr Hichilema won’t be allowed this time around,” said Milupi.
UPND Secretary General, Baruke Imenda, Chairperson for Legal, Jack Mwiimbu, Special Advisor to President Hakainde Hichilema, Douglas Syakalima, Chairperson for Industrial relations, Amb. Bernard Mpundu and Lusaka Province Chaiperson, Obvious Mwaliteta also attended the briefing.
