- 8 Uplanning to arrest HH on false allegations of privatization is not in interest of the public.
Mwansabombwe – 15/09/20
The United Party for National Development-UPND-received with disgust the disturbing news that Zambia’s autocratic ruler, Edgar Chagwa Lungu plans to arrest UPND President Hakainde Hichilema on issues of privatization.
Such misguided sentiments from the Head of State are undoubtedly a desperate attempt to sway Zambians from his failure to deliver to the people’s expectations.
How could Mr Lungu, a man whose net worth jumped from a paltry K2 million in 2015 at the time he was a presidential candidate to K22 million a year later in 2016, start accusing the hard working Hichilema of having stolen national assets.
So far Mr Lungu has not explained where he got an extra K20million within one year of being Republican President. At least HH has explained how he made his money.
Mr Lungu’s desperation must not lead him to believe he is the alpha and omega of this country to an extent where he becomes the law unto himself to determine who stole what and decide what offense to charge them with.
We wish to warn Mr Lungu that he should abort such plans forthwith because proceeding with such is dangerous to the country.
The UPND wishes to remind Mr Lungu that making such unwarranted rantings on a public podium in a country that is still reeling from the after effects and political divisions that arose after the 2016 disputed elections is recipe for anarchy.
We would like to appeal to Mr Lungu’s handlers to warn their leader not to proceed with the planned arrest of president Hichilema because his followers, who number more than 70 percent of Zambia’s population would not sit idle and watch while their leader languishes in prison over trumped up charges.
