Some two weeks ago, we were treated to falsehoods about some imaginary article attributed to respectable international media houses such as AFP and AP linking us to gay rights and State House was made to join in the frenzy in commenting based on complete falsehoods.
Last week, the whole country was treated to yet another falsehood about some imaginary airplane carrying huge sums of money meant for opposition elements in Zambia having been intercepted by our security wings and parked at the airport. Sadly again State House was enlisted and duped into the falsehoods and made to react. And yet, even if it were true, that would have been the job of the security wings such as the Police, DEC, or ACC to investigate and thereafter inform the nation of their findings.
Today we are being told there is actually no deal with the South African power utility company Eskom to import electricity from that country, and reduce electricity load-shedding that has crippled businesses and households in Zambia.
When we saw the whole debate about this so-called deal between ZESCO and Eskom, we wondered how it was going to be expedited considering the fact that it’s in public domain that ZESCO is totally bankrupt and owes lots of money to several entities including to Eskom.
We wonder what other lies we will next be treated to as a nation.
